Automotive / Manufacturing Success Stories
Automotive OEM - Program Management Information System
The Challenge:
Recently, a major automotive manufacturer approached us with a project to replace their aging in-house project management information system. The manufacturer, or OEM, was simultaneously moving from a regional to a global product development process and reducing the size and budget of the centralized planning organization. As a result, the number of vehicle programs underway at any given time grew to several hundred while the resources available to support them shrank.
The Template Software Solution:
Template Software’s solution combined SNAP® I2M for applying business rules to existing data, with RPlan® , the easy-to-use collaborative project management application from Actano.
We worked with the OEM to leverage existing data to help streamline their global program planning process, tying it more closely to their portfolio and part systems, and helping fewer people manage more programs and schedules. The result is a tightly integrated solution that met the OEM’s objectives.

DAXUS - Identification, Tracking and Inventory Control For Slab Steel
The Challenge:
DAXUS Corporation, with over 30 years of experience in supplying automation systems to the steel industry, wanted to develop a distributed system for inventory, storage and handling of steel slabs.
The Template Software Solution:
Using Template Software's SNAP , DAXUS developed their distributed system, the heart of which is a perpetual inventory that tracks and controls slabs in real time. Bar code identification tags are attached to each slab as it is produced. Ground personnel use handheld scanners and radio-frequency terminals to confirm the identity of each slab entering and leaving the process area, and to log material into the central computer system. The installation of this system is anticipated to reduce direct labor costs for the moving and tracking of slabs by 25-40%.
